It’s Not Fair

Overwhelming stresses in life can sometimes lead you to the point of walking away from your faith, especially when it appears that those who don’t trust God are prospering. In this discussion of Psalm 73, Bill Crowder examines Asaph’s story of pain, tears, loss, and disappointment. Encouraging you to focus on the condition of your heart rather than the perception of your eyes, It’s Not Fair shows how you can restore your confidence in God and trust Him by focusing on His goodness rather than your circumstances.

      2 Corinthians 4:8-18

      2 Corinthians 4:8-18New International Version (NIV)

      8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

      13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.”[a] Since we have that same spirit of[b] faith, we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

      16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

        Psalm 34:15-22New International Version (NIV)

        15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
        and his ears are attentive to their cry;
        16 but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
        to blot out their name from the earth.
        17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
        he delivers them from all their troubles.
        18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
        and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
        19 The righteous person may have many troubles,
        but the Lord delivers him from them all;
        20 he protects all his bones,
        not one of them will be broken.
        21 Evil will slay the wicked;
        the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
        22 The Lord will rescue his servants;
        no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

        I Love you Joseph, in Jesus’ Name*
